ASSESSING GLOBAL LEARNING: WHAT DO WE KNOW AND WHAT DO WE NEED TO KNOW - ANNUAL CONFERENCE SESSIONS
MARCH 6 (ONLINE) & MARCH 21, 2024 (IN PERSON) Title: Assessing Global Learning: What do we know and what do we want to know Presenter: Dr. Jillian Kinzie, Associate Director of the Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research and the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) Institute, Indiana University Date: Wednesday, March 6th, 2024 (Virtual) Time: 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. Eastern Date: Thursday, March 21st, 2024 (In Person, Boston) Time: 1:45 - 3:00 p.m. Eastern Description: Assessing global experiences and outcomes is a key goal for education abroad and institutions committed to enriching their offerings. The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) has supported assessment in high-impact practices, and education abroad in its Global Learning Topical Module. This session will briefly highlight assessment results and then workshop new survey items for an updated module. NOTE: The above sessions build on the Making the Case webinar that Dr. Kinzie offered in October 2023 and provide EA professionals and educators and opportunity to contribute to revising the Global Learning topical module. Registration of the virtual conference is included in the in-person conference registration. There is also an option to register for the virtual conference portion only. If attendance at the annual conference isn't in your plans this year, but you are interested in contributing to this session, please contact Mary Price, Director of Teaching & Learning, [email protected]. |

Date: Wednesday, Feb. 7th 2024 Title: Relevance & Reciprocity in Global Learning Spaces: Leveraging the Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement Time: 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Eastern Description: Education abroad (EA) and community engagement (CE) offices have shared interests in their concerns for student learning and success, partnerships, and reciprocity. In practice, these shared interests don’t necessarily result in increased collaboration on the ground. The result is missed opportunities to co-identify promising practices to achieve common goals and to respond to shared challenges, particularly in the realm of teaching, learning and working in and with local and global communities to improve our shared futures. |
