To make our vision a reality, we strive to provide international educators with opportunities to learn, grow, and bond as a community so that they have the tools to offer students the best possible experiences abroad.

The Forum hosts events and trainings around the globe and online for all international educators:

Upcoming Events

​Accelerated Residency 
​Annually in June

The Accelerated Residency is a unique opportunity to engage deeply with the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad and learn alongside colleagues. During this intensive three-day residency, you will attend all six of the workshops that make up the Professional Certification Program. By the end of the residency, you will have the foundation and resources needed to complete the program assignments when you return home. ​

​Annual Conference
Annually in February and March

Held every year, this multi-day event includes an ideal mix of upskilling and networking opportunities, complete with plenary sessions, concurrent sessions, community connections, and more. The annual conference is esteemed for its high-quality content, its critical conversations focused exclusively on education abroad, and the pathways it presents for partnership-building. This must-attend event also includes a celebration of colleagues and students with the presentation of Forum awards.

Beyond Polarization Residency
Annually in July

​The new Beyond Polarization Residency will unite international educators to share frameworks and tools for productive engagement across differences. Participants will learn from both peers and experts from various fields, exploring ways to address polarization and build global understanding. By integrating insights from other domains, the program empowers mid-career professionals to senior international officers to lead conflict transformation in their institutions and communities.

Careers, Internships and Global Learning Conference (CIGL)
Annually in October

​Internships and career-integrated global learning are among the fastest growing areas of education abroad, allowing students to access high impact international experiences with immersive engagement in the local community. Ranging from individual placements or industry-based projects to pre-program research or re-entry workshops to MNC site visits or NGO case studies, the opportunities to explore how current education applies to future professions are vast -  and the challenges are real.

European Institute
Biennially in November

The Institute will include workshops from a European perspective focused on equity, diversity and inclusion, supporting students’ mental health, and sustainability. A facilitated open forum will close the institute which will engage participants in producing a curated deliverable to share with the education abroad community.  

Europe, Middle East, and Africa Conference (EMEA)
​Biennially in October

Held every other year, the EMEA Conference is a more intimate event than the Annual Conference with a European, Middle Eastern, and African focus. This multi-day event is an excellent opportunity for open dialogue, updates, and upskilling for on-site staff and education abroad institutions and organizations from around the globe.

Institute on Health, Safety, Security, and Risk Management
​Annually in June

The Institute on Health, Safety, Security and Risk Management is the premiere event for education abroad professionals focused on risk management issues. This Institute provides attendees with tools to strengthen institutional and organizational strategies for risk mitigation, incident prevention, emergency response, and overall wellbeing for education abroad participants.

Member Mingle Networking Series
Monthly

Member Mingles, offered as a virtual networking series, are exclusively for Forum Members. These 45-minute sessions are informal ways for members to meet and reconnect around a designated topic.

​Whether you are a new, existing, or prospective member, we are happy to guide you through what The Forum has to offer and how to get the most out of membership. The second Monday of each month we offer two virtual sessions.

Regional Seminars
​Year-Round

The Forum on Education Abroad’s Regional Seminars  offer education abroad professionals the opportunity to deep dive into pressing topics in their region by developing strategies and receive tangible takeaways that they can begin implementing immediately in their everyday work. At these one-day, hands-on professional development events, participants gain best practices from experts in the field, learn about practical resources, and expand their professional networks.  

Webinars
​Year-Round

The Forum’s webinars offer participants an opportunity to gather virtually to learn about and discuss timely and important topics in the field of education abroad. Our webinars, which can be a single one-hour event or a segment of a larger series, give attendees the chance to gain knowledge from experts for free or a minimal fee.
