The Forum on Education Abroad is proud to announce a new milestone for Frontiers: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Study Abroad: the team at Frontiers has secured sponsoring partners. The Center for Research on Abroad and International Student Engagement (RAISE Center) at Wake Forest University and CEA CAPA will help advance the journal’s mission to foster rigorous scholarship and meaningful dialogue across the academic community. This announcement comes after a lengthy process of dialogue and review to ensure that the new sponsoring partners’ values and goals for scholarly publishing in our field are aligned with Frontiers’ longstanding commitment to academic rigor, editorial independence and ethics. “These partnerships reflect a shared commitment to strengthening the scholarly dialogue around student mobility,” shared Dr. Amelia Dietrich, Senior Director for Research & Publications and Managing Editor, Frontiers: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Study Abroad. “We look forward to working together to expand the journal’s impact and continue building a trusted platform for research in our field.”
Through these partnerships, Frontiers will collaborate on initiatives that strengthen the journal’s reach and impact. For example: Frontiers and CEA CAPA will co-host the 2026 Woolf Symposium in conjunction with The Forum’s Annual Conference 2026 on Tuesday, March 10, in Nashville, Tennessee. (Registration for the Woolf Symposium is now full. A waitlist is available—please add your name if you’d like to be notified should a spot open.) With the RAISE Center at Wake Forest University, Frontiers will be organizing a research symposium in 2026 to encourage and develop emerging scholars in the field. These collaborations are designed to enhance the visibility and accessibility of high-quality research and essays while maintaining the editorial integrity that defines Frontiers. Each event will result in a sponsored special issue published by Frontiers that will share key takeaways and findings from these events and the scholarly conversations they inspire. As part of these partnerships, each organization will appoint a representative to serve in an advisory capacity on the journal’s Editorial Board. These board representatives are: Dr. Anthony Gristwood, Principal Lecturer and Faculty Chair of CEA CAPA’s London Center, who has been serving on the board over the last two years and Dr. W. Patrick Bingham, Director of the RAISE Center and Research Assistant Professor of Contemporary Global Studies at Wake Forest University, who has a strong record of scholarly publishing and engagement in the field and served as co-editor of Frontiers’ special issue of research-to-practice briefs in 2023. “This is an exciting moment for Frontiers,” said Dr. Elaine Meyer-Lee, Editor of Frontiers and Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at Goucher College. “RAISE Center and CEA CAPA share our dedication to advancing knowledge in education abroad, and their support will help us amplify the voices of scholars while maintaining the integrity and independence that define our work.” Looking ahead, Frontiers welcome inquiries from organizations that share our commitment to advancing the knowledge-building dialogue around education abroad and student mobility. Interested parties can reach out to the team at [email protected] to learn more. Frontiers: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Study Abroad is grateful to CEA CAPA and the RAISE Center at Wake Forest University for their support and look forward to working together to strengthen the journal’s role as a leading platform for scholarly exchange within the field of education abroad.
