Although attendees are free to book any accommodation of their choosing in the city of Bologna and the surrounding area, The Forum on Education Abroad is holding room blocks with limited availability in the following hotels. We strongly recommend that you book your hotel as early as possible.

Please note:

• Reservations can be made on a “first come - first served” basis and we cannot guarantee availability at the hotels listed here. 
• Room blocks will only remain available for booking through June 10 or until full capacity is reached, whichever comes first.

Traveling to Bologna, Italy

By Air

• Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) is the city’s main airport, located about 6 km (4 miles) from the city center.
• From Europe: BLQ has direct flights from major European cities, including London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Madrid.
• From Outside Europe: Travelers from North America, Asia, or other regions will likely connect through major hubs like Rome (FCO), Milan (MXP), Frankfurt (FRA), or Paris (CDG).

Transportation Options from the Airport to the City Center:

• Marconi Express: A direct monorail train connects the airport to Bologna Centrale (main train station) in 7 minutes.
• Taxi: Taxis are available outside the terminal and take about 15 minutes to reach the center.​

By Train
Bologna Centrale is one of Italy’s major rail hubs, offering high-speed and regional connections, and is a short walk or bus ride from the historic center.

• From within Italy:
  • Florence: ~35 minutes (high-speed train)
  • Milan: ~1 hour 15 minutes (high-speed train)
  • Rome: ~2 hours (high-speed train)
  • Venice: ~1.5 hours (high-speed train)
• From Europe:
  • Paris to Bologna (~7.5 hours) via Milan
  • Munich to Bologna (~6.5 hours) via Verona
  • Zurich to Bologna (~5.5 hours) via Milan

By Bus/Public Transportation

• Domestic and International Buses: Long-distance bus services (FlixBus, Itabus) connect Bologna to other Italian and European cities.
• Local Transport: Bologna has an efficient bus network operated by TPER, with frequent routes to the city center and beyond.

By Car
Bologna is well connected by highways:

• From Milan: ~2 hours via A1
• From Florence: ~1 hour 30 minutes via A1
• From Venice: ~2 hours via A13
• From Rome: ~4 hours via A1

Parking: The city center has limited traffic (ZTL zones), so parking outside the center (e.g., Piazza VIII Agosto parking lot) and walking or taking public transport is recommended.
