Reservations with The Forum’s exclusive conference rate will be available when conference registration begins on September 3, 2026, and will close on February 12, 2027. Please make sure to register via the Marriott website only.

Beware of Hotel Reservation Scams
The Forum does not use third-party housing companies for conference hotel reservations. Any emails, calls, or messages offering discounted rooms or booking assistance are not authorized by The Forum.

To receive the conference rate, attendees must book directly through the official Marriott Marquis New York reservation link above and in official Forum communications. If you receive a suspicious hotel solicitation, please contact The Forum before making any reservations or providing payment information.

Transportation & Getting to the Hotel

The New York Marriott Marquis is in the heart of Times Square, with convenient access to New York City's extensive public transportation network. The hotel is within walking distance of major subway stations, Penn Station, Grand Central Terminal, and the Port Authority Bus Terminal, making it easy to reach from all three major airports and throughout the city. 

From Nearby Airports
John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) 
JFK Airport is approximately 17 miles from the hotel. You can reach Times Square via AirTrain and Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) service to Midtown Manhattan, or by taxi, rideshare, shuttle, or subway. Travel times vary depending on transportation mode and traffic conditions. 

LaGuardia Airport (LGA) 
LaGuardia Airport is the closest major airport to the hotel, located approximately 7 miles away. Taxi and rideshare services provide convenient direct transportation, and public transit options connect the airport to Midtown Manhattan.  

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) 
Newark Airport offers convenient access to Manhattan via train, bus, taxi, and rideshare services. The Newark Airport Express bus provides service to the Port Authority Bus Terminal, located a short walk from the hotel.  

Public Transportation
The hotel is steps from several major subway lines serving Times Square and Midtown Manhattan, providing easy access to New York City's neighborhoods, attractions, and transportation hubs. Nearby stations offer connections to numerous subway routes, allowing attendees to travel throughout the city without a car.  
For attendees arriving by rail: 

• Penn Station is located approximately one mile from the hotel and serves Amtrak, Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), and NJ Transit. 
• Grand Central Terminal is less than a mile away and serves Metro-North Railroad. 
• Port Authority Bus Terminal is within walking distance and offers regional and airport bus connections. 

Getting Around New York City
New York City is one of the most walkable cities in the world, and many restaurants, attractions, theaters, and landmarks are located within walking distance of the conference hotel. Taxis, rideshare services, buses, and subways are readily available throughout Manhattan, making it easy to explore the city before or after conference activities.

Visa Information: Steps to Obtain a U.S. Visa for Conference Attendance

International participants planning to attend The Forum on Education Abroad’s Annual Conference in the United States may need to obtain a B-1 (Business Visitor) visa or travel under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), if eligible. 

Step 1: Determine if you Need a Visa

• ​Citizens of certain countries may travel to the United States without a visa under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). 
• Check if your country is part of the VWP.​

If you are not eligible for the VWP, you will need a B-1 visa to enter the United States for conference purposes. 

step 2: Apply for a B-1 Visa (If Required)

1. Visit the U.S. Department of State website to begin your visa application process.
2. Complete the DS-160 Form (Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application).
3. Pay the visa application fee (typically $185 USD). 
4. Schedule a visa interview at your nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.

Step 3: Prepare Required Documentation

You will need to bring the following to your visa interview: 

• A valid passport (must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in the United States) 
• DS-160 confirmation page with barcode 
• Visa application fee receipt 
• A letter of invitation from The Forum on Education Abroad (available upon request, see template below) 
• Proof of conference registration 
• Financial documents to show ability to cover travel expenses 
• Any other documents requested by the U.S. embassy or consulate 

Step 4: Attend Your Visa Interview

​During your interview, a consular officer will determine your eligibility based on your documents, travel intent, and ties to your home country. 

Step 5: Wait for Visa Processing

Processing times vary by location. We recommend that you check wait times for your local U.S. consulate.

Visa Invitation Letters

If you require a formal letter of invitation from The Forum on Education Abroad, please complete the form below to submit a request.  

Please request your letter of invitation to Annual Conference 2027 in New York by December 7, 2026. The visa application process can take several months, so please apply for a visa as early as possible.    
  
Guidelines:   

• Invitation letters will be issued to attendees who have registered and paid for the full conference (in New York and online).    
• Invitation letters will be emailed as PDFs to attendees. Hard copies cannot be mailed.   
• If a visa is denied, The Forum will refund your registration fee according to our Refund/Cancellation Policy.   
• All expenses associated with the conference are the responsibility of the attendee.   
• The Forum is unable to assist with the visa process beyond providing the invitation letter.   

   
If your request needs to be reviewed by Forum staff, please allow two weeks to receive a response. The Forum reserves the right to decline the request for a letter of invitation. Your request for a letter of invitation does not guarantee that you will receive a visa.
