The Forum on Education Abroad has partnered with Air Canada to offer conference participants discounted flights for traveling to Toronto to attend Annual Conference 2025.

When you register for the Annual Conference, you will receive a discount code to use on your travel to the event in your confirmation email. The discount is applicable on routes to all Toronto airports (YYZ/YTZ) from Wednesday, March 12, 2025, to Friday, March 28, 2025. Visa Information: Steps to Obtain Your Visa

All visitors are responsible for and must have valid travel documents and identification to enter Canada, such as a passport or visa. These items are your responsibility, but to help ensure your travel to Toronto is as smooth as possible, we’ve compiled some important information about obtaining a visa for your stay. Please read the details below and start your visa application process well in advance.

Step 1: Determine Your Visa Requirements

Check Visa Requirements: Before applying, verify if you need a visa to enter Canada based on your nationality. Visit the Government of Canada’s official visa website to find out if you require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). NOTE: If you have a U.S.  passport, you do not need a visa. No further steps are required.

Note: Visa-required individuals may be required to submit fingerprints and a photo (biometrics) to acquire their visa for travel to Canada. (People who require only an eTA do not need to provide biometrics. Travelers who normally require a visa will also need to provide a biometric.) ​​

Step 2: Application Process  

Gather Required Documents: Prepare the necessary documents for your visa application, which typically include: 

• A valid passport 

• Proof of conference registration or invitation letter 

• Evidence of sufficient funds for your stay 

• Travel itinerary and accommodation details 

• Any additional documents specific to your visa type 

 
Submit Your Application  

• For TRV: Apply online or at a Canadian visa office in your country. Visit the Canada Immigration website for detailed instructions. 

• For eTA: Apply online through the eTA application portal. ​

Step 3: Processing Time 

Visa processing times can vary. Check the estimated processing times on the Government of Canada’s website and apply as early as possible to avoid any delays. ​​

Step 4: Invitation Letter

An invitation letter may be required. Conference attendees registered to attend the conference and paid in full can request a letter of invitation for visa applications.  
 
Please request your letter of invitation for the Annual Conference 2025 in Toronto by December 13, 2024. The visa application process can take several months, so please apply for a visa as early as possible.   
 
Guidelines:  

• Invitation letters will be issued to attendees who have registered for the full conference.   
  

• Invitation letters will be emailed as PDFs to attendees. Hard copies cannot be mailed.  
  

• If a visa is denied, The Forum will refund your registration fee according to our Refund/Cancellation Policy.  
  

• All expenses associated with the conference are the responsibility of the attendee.  
  

• The Forum is unable to assist with the visa process beyond providing the invitation letter.  
  

  
Your request will be reviewed by Forum staff. Please allow 2 weeks to receive a response. The Forum reserves the right to decline the request for a letter of invitation. Your request for a letter of invitation does not guarantee that you will receive a visa. ​
