How do I become involved in the Forum’s work?
The Forum is an organization built on the active participation of its members, and depends upon the involvement of its institutional members to bring to fruition the many projects that the organization undertakes. The various projects and initiatives are organized according to Committees and Working Groups, and those that are currently active are noted below. If you or colleagues at your institution/organization have expertise and interest in the Forum’s projects and are willing and able to contribute your time, please contact the Forum office or the appropriate Committee or Working Group Chair.
My institution/organization is not a member of the Forum. Can I still contribute to the Forum’s work?
Yes. The Forum encourages non-members also to contribute to projects and initiatives, although the organization’s bylaws do specify that committees must be composed of a majority of colleagues from member institutions.
What if I do not have the time to dedicate? Are there ways that I can still become involved?
Yes! You do not need to be an active Committee or Working Group member in order to contribute to the Forum. The Forum relies on members to provide feedback on various projects and initiatives such as proposed modification to the Standards of Good Practice, the Education Abroad Glossary, and the full range of resources and services the Forum offers. Participating in a webinar, workshop, the Annual Conference, and other Forum events is another excellent way to participate.
What are the current opportunities for becoming involved in Forum projects?
Many Forum projects, such as the work of the main Committees of the Forum Council, involve ongoing work, while some Working Groups focus on discrete, short-term projects. The list of Committees and Working Groups below provides information on current projects and activities.
Does the Forum welcome ideas and suggestions for new projects and initiatives?
Yes! All of the Forum’s projects start with ideas and recommendations from members. If you have a suggestion for a project or member service, please contact the Forum office or a Committee Chair.
