New Data Committee Working Group: Infrastructure and Resources (STAIR) for Education Abroad
This working group will develop resources based on collected data to assist Forum institutional members to assess and advance their education abroad
resources and infrastructure.
Goals and Objectives
- Collect data on and set benchmarks for education abroad administration (advising and program management) that includes workload, salaries, and job descriptions;
- Develop an online archive of education abroad organizational structures;
- Develop an online archive of typical job descriptions and salary ranges.
Initiatives:
- Human Resources partnerships and resource building [Project lead: Sarah Groskreutz]. This project seeks to evaluate the Education Abroad profession based on human resource standards. We will focus on building partnerships with human resource professionals and advocate for the recognition of the range of positions in the field by CUPA-HR.
- Organizational structures and staffing [Project lead: Lisa Donatelli]. This project seeks to compile library of examples of organizational structures,so that education abroad offices may successfully build and train staff, and strategically design positions.
STAIR will need project leads for:
New Pathways survey launch and data collection: This project lead and his/her team will review the existing Pathways survey data, identify gaps in the data, develop and launch a new survey and analyze the data.
Advising and program management benchmarking and research this project will continue to add position descriptions to the Forum Glossary, collect and analyze position descriptions and other benchmarking data. It will also seek to develop advising matrices to help education abroad professionals design advising loads which consider program design, academic advising, and needs of the student population being served.
Advocacy tools for strategic resource building: In collaboration with the strategic partnership building project team, this lead and his/her team will develop white papers, advocacy tools, and training materials that support education abroad offices as they build strategic partnerships on-campus and in the field.
