This Forum workshop will address Student Learning, Development and the Academic Framework of Education Abroad (Standards 2 and 3), and will take place on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, CA. 

 

Standard 2 of the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad focuses on topics related to the academics of education abroad, such as inter-cultural understanding, language and communication, and academic growth. Standard 3 accounts for the academic policies and structures that support learning, such as credit and coursework, academic integration, advising and career planning. Designed to be highly interactive, timely and informative, this workshop will help its participants to apply these Standards to real-world situations through discussion and analysis of case studies. Upon completing the workshop, participants should be able to articulate the importance of these Standards, and be able to use them to improve policies and practices for their own programs.

This workshop will be held in the Dining Room of Nobili Hall at Santa Clara University.

Parking:

Parking will be provided on campus for all attendees. Via the main entrance of campus, arrive at the parking kiosk (labeled 704 Visitor Permits on the Campus Map). Purchase the appropriate parking pass and the kiosk attendant will direct you where to go.

 

 

Hotel Information:

Workshop attendees are encouraged to stay at the Candlewood Suites Silicon Valley/San Jose, which is conveniently located across the street from the main entrance to SCU, at 481 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA 95050. Not only is it walking distance from the University, but, being next to the Transit Center, it also provides access to the CalTrain (for attendees possibly traveling from San Francisco International Airport) and the stop for the Free Airport Flyer (10 Bus) for those flying into San Jose International Airport.  Please indicate that you staying for an event at SCU to get the reduced SCU room rate. Refund Policy: Upon written request (via email to: info@forumea.org), refunds for withdrawal made seven days or more prior to the event will be fully refunded, minus a 10% processing fee. Requests made less than seven days priot to the event will be refunded at 50%, or the registrant can opt to credit the total fee to any Forum event in the succeeding 12 months.
