Fireside Dialogue for Mid-Career Professionals

The Forum on Education Abroad is pleased to offer a Fireside Dialogue for mid-career education abroad professionals. A small group of mid-career professionals will join senior education abroad leaders in an informal setting for one and a half days of facilitated, collegial interaction. Discussion will focus on the development of key skills essential to leadership both within organizations and within the field of education abroad as a whole. Discussion topics will include strategic planning, university and organizational governance, personnel management, financial and resource management, and personal advocacy. Prior to the Dialogue, each participant will write a short thought-piece related to their own topics of interest, and share these with the other participants. These reflections, and additional short readings related to the topics will serve as the starting points for the Fireside Dialogue.

Senior leaders participating in the Fireside Dialogue are: Gene Allen, University of Minnesota; Patti Brown, Franklin and Marshall College; JoAnn McCarthy, University of Pennsylvania; and Stevan Trooboff, Council for International Educational Exchange (CIEE).  Brian Whalen, president and CEO of the Forum, will serve as the Fireside facilitator.
