Forum and NACUA Workshop on Changes to Clery Act Reporting
Registration for this workshop has closed.
The Forum on Education Abroad announces a workshop to address recent changes to the Clery Handbook and the implications for education abroad. The full-day workshop, Implications of the New Clery Handbook - What Does it Mean for Education Abroad? is co-sponsored by the National Association of College and University Attorneys and will take place on Friday, February 3, 2012, 9:00am to 4:00pm at the Fordham Law School in New York, New York.
Topics to be discussed include:
- What are the obligations of colleges and universities to report incidents that occur overseas?
- What do program sponsors need to know so that they may assist the institutions they serve with Clery compliance?
- Who should be involved in reporting incidents?
- What types of incidents must be reported?
- To whom should these incidents be reported?
Since the new Handbook for Campus Safety and Security Reporting was issued earlier this spring, these questions have been discussed over and over again among education abroad professionals, risk managers, legal counsels and campus police chiefs. Many institutions and program sponsors still have questions as they grapple with the impact these changes might have. Expert presenters from both the Forum and NACUA will provide answers and respond to questions. This is an opportunity to specifically address implications for study abroad. Registrants will be invited to submit case studies in advance so that the content will be relevant and specific to the needs of the attendees.
This workshop is open to all; however, Forum and NACUA member institutions are able to register for the workshop for a discounted rate of $275. Nonmembers are welcome to register at the rate of $325.
Refund Policy: Requests for refunds must be made in writing to info@forumea.org. Requests made after the deadline will be refunded at 50% or will be refunded at 50%, or opt to credit the total workshop fee to any Forum event in the next 12 months.
